Doctors Hospital of Manteca is pleased to recognize the many accomplishments of Amanda Harmon, Junior Volunteer. Amanda was recently recognized by Sacramento’s News 10 as the Student Scholar of the Week. This award is bestowed upon students who combine academic success with community service and extracurricular activities.
For those of us at Doctors Hospital who work with Amanda, we know that she is an ideal candidate for this award. As a Junior at East Union High School, Amanda maintains a 4.55 grade point average. Her love for academics, especially Advanced Algebra, will help her in meeting her next goal, acceptance into Stanford University.
Upon finishing high school, Amanda hopes to complete her education at Stanford and become a pediatrician. Her motivation for this career stems from her strong family bonds and dedication for others. At Doctors Hospital of Manteca, we can only hope to have Amanda back some day, as a distinguished member of our medical staff.
The Junior Volunteer program at Doctors Hospital is comprised of boys and girls, ages 14 to 19. These high school students volunteer for shifts between 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The scope of duties include, but are not limited to: assisting the Hospitality Desk, distributing clean linens, and helping to deliver meal trays. Special meetings, award programs and recognition events are provided for the volunteers.
