From simple acts of kindness, to being present during delicate aspects of people’s lives, health care workers perform heroic deeds. Everyday they bring professionalism, passion and dedication to their work and to those who are in their care. Doctors Hospital of Manteca is asking the community to join in giving health care workers a special expression of gratitude for their service. The tribute is part of a celebration of National Nurses Week and National Hospital & Healthcare Week, held May 6 through May 15.
“This is a time when people in our community can give recognition to a group of individuals who don’t ask for it, yet perform an important community service everyday,” said Katherine A. Medeiros, Chief Executive Officer.
Medeiros added, “It takes head, hand and heart to do their jobs. Everyday our hospital staff comes to work, not knowing what to expect, but ready for anything. National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week are a time to take the extra effort to show these dedicated people that their work matters and we notice their high quality of care.”
National Nurses Week was first recognized by President Eisenhower and celebrated in 1954. It was later moved to take place in early May to coincide with the anniversary of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, an icon of the nursing profession.
