Manteca, CA – May 8, 2006 – Doctors Hospital of Manteca invites the community to join together to say “thank you” to the nurses, technicians and many other health care workers who serve the health care needs of the community on a daily basis.  May 6 through May 13, Doctors Hospital of Manteca will celebrate National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week. 

The theme of this year’s celebration is A Chorus of Comfort.  It recognizes that each thoughtful gesture, gentle touch and caring word performed by nurses, technicians, ancillary professionals and other hospital team members combines to create an overall feeling of comfort for our patients, just as individual instruments meld their tune to create a beautiful symphony.

“Caregivers and all hospital employees provide a vital service to our community, day and night, every day of the year,” said Carin Sarkis, hospital spokesperson.  “Their work is more than a job; it is a calling to serve those in need.”

Carin added, “It takes more than just education and skills to be a caregiver.  It also takes a generous spirit, a compassionate nature and dedication to helping those in need.  National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week is a time say thank you to these extraordinary individuals who care for our children, our parents and our friends.”

As part of the celebration of National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation will honor an outstanding employee at Doctors Hospital of Manteca by donating $500 to the charitable organization of the employee’s choice.  Tenet Healthcare Foundation will distribute approximately $34,000 in donations at Tenet hospitals on this behalf.
