Doctors Hospital of Manteca Pays Tribute to Outstanding Health Care Worker

Doctors Hospital of Manteca makes donation to Boys and Girls Club of Manteca/Lathrop  in name of Tina Burch  to celebrate National Nurses Week and National Hospital & Healthcare Week

Manteca, CA - As a part of the National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week celebration, held May 6 through May 14, Doctors Hospital of Manteca and the Tenet Healthcare Foundation have honored an outstanding employee by donating $500 to a charity of the employee’s choice.  This year’s recognition goes to Tina Burch, Shift Manager, Multi-Specialty Unit.

“With so many extraordinary employees at Doctors Hospital of Manteca, choosing an outstanding employee to honor is never easy.” said Katherine Medeiros, CEO.   “Everyday, each nurse and staff member makes a difference in a patient’s life.  They continually demonstrate The Art of Caring.”

“This year we selected Tina Burch as our outstanding health care worker because of her compassion, skill, and commitment to quality,” Medeiros continued.

Tina has been a valued employee at Doctors Hospital of Manteca for over 14 years.  In her role, she sets an example of calmly evaluating resources, and adjusting priorities to meet the needs of her patients, families and staff. Tina has an enthusiasm for nursing and the hospital that she conveys to everyone she encounters.

Tina has three beautiful daughters, who she hopes will one day follow in her footsteps.  When not busy with work or family, Tina is a strong advocate of community volunteerism.  In the past, Tina has spearheaded the DHM teams for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Bowl-a-Thon to benefit Give Every Child a Chance.  She is a long-time member of the DHM Activities Committee and has chaired many employee events like the Holiday Adopt-a-Family and DHM Crab Feed.

“Tina is truly representative of the entire staff at Doctors Hospital of Manteca who work hard to give patients the best quality of care every day of the year,” said Carmen Silva, Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer.    “These two weeks of celebration and thanks should go on throughout the entire year.”

As part of the celebration of National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation will distribute approximately $34,000 in donations on behalf of employees at Tenet hospitals.

National Nurses Week was first recognized by President Eisenhower and celebrated in 1954.  It was later moved to take place in early May to coincide with the anniversary of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, an icon of the nursing profession.

Nurses and hospital workers are kind, caring and dedicated people. Everyday, they answer the call to help patients in need. Whether it’s through a simple act of kindness or handling an emergency, health care workers know that every moment counts. They work hard to hone their skills, while understanding it takes more than just medicine to treat their patients. Being a health care worker means perfecting The Art of Caring.
