CEO Dr. Murali Naidu Discusses Current Status of COVID-19

Sep 22, 2021

As we round the corner and head into fall, I want to take this opportunity to provide a brief update on COVID-19 and what we’re seeing locally. Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 cases within San Joaquin County hospitals remains high. Current projections suggest that we should see numbers plateau and drop in a few weeks, which will be accelerated as more people get vaccinated and follow masking recommendations put forth by public health.

Getting vaccinated is one of many steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. Other steps – like hand washing, masking and social distancing while around others not in your household – help reduce your chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others. Together, COVID-19 vaccination and following CDC’s recommendations to protect yourself and others will offer the best protection from COVID-19. To schedule a vaccine appointment at one of several convenient locations in the area, head to MyTurn.ca.gov or call (833) 422-4255.

While we continue to care for patients with COVID-19 at Doctors Hospital of Manteca, we remain committed to treating patients who come to us with healthcare needs not related to COVID-19. If you’ve been putting off your medical needs due to fear of coming to the hospital, there is no need to delay your care. In fact, it can be dangerous to do so and can lead to additional problems in the future. We are committed to universal protection and safety for every person who walks through our doors.

Stay safe this fall and know that we are here if you need us.

Murali N. Naidu, MD, FACS
CEO, Doctors Hospital of Manteca
