Manteca, Calif. -A longtime general surgeon at Doctors Hospital of Manteca has retired after 36 years at the hospital.

Jerry Weiner, M.D., started working at Doctors Hospital of Manteca in October 1985 and retired in December 2021. Dr. Weiner has been a wonderful asset to Doctors Hospital of Manteca and we are grateful for his incredible commitment and dedication to our patients, hospital and community for so many years.

Here are some comments from DHM colleagues:

“Dr. Weiner has provided expert clinical knowledge, superb surgical skills, and care for this community for 36 years. His contributions to Doctors Hospital of Manteca are very much appreciated. Over the years, he has served as a mentor to other physicians and a leader for our medical staff. Most recently, his calm demeanor and expert knowledge were invaluable to our patients and staff during the pandemic. Thank you very much, Dr. Weiner! While you will be missed at the hospital, we wish you well in your retirement!” – Murali N. Naidu, M.D., former CEO of Doctors Hospital of Manteca

“I would like to thank Dr. Weiner for his decades of service to the community and always going above and beyond the call of duty!” – George C. Scott, M.D., Manteca Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician

“Jerry Weiner has been a huge asset to the medical community since the day he arrived. He has taken call for many nights and weekends and was always available to me if I needed a consult, even when not on call. His retirement leaves a huge hole in the medical community that will be impossible to fill. I personally and professionally will miss him and wish him the best in his well-earned retirement.” – Howard C. Miller, D.P.M., Manteca Podiatry Specialist

“I have worked with Dr. Weiner for 20+ years here at DHM. He truly had a passion and heart for those patients that he touched. Not only was he thoughtful and compassionate to his patients and families, but he was always very gracious to the nursing staff. In the times when he would have to actually hand write orders – there was always a please and thank you. He would always thank the nurses that were caring for his patients.

Unfortunately as a surgeon you didn’t really want to have a personal story with him, but I did and so did other members of my family. His communication, professionalism and reassurance was far above expectations.

We wish him the best in his next adventures and retirement. Career well served, job well done.” – Tina Burch, MSN, RNC, Interim Chief Nursing Officer
